New MPs to be sworn in today in a grand ceremony

Following the 11th National Parliamentary Election, newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) are set to take their oath today in the oath hall of the Parliament House in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The current Speaker will administer the oath of office to these newly elected public representatives.

The ceremony will be held at 11 AM today in the Justice Directorate, or the oath hall, of the National Parliament.

According to constitutional provisions, the Speaker will first take the oath himself and then administer the oath to the newly elected members.

The Election Commission has already published the gazette of the names of the elected members, on which this oath-taking ceremony is being organized.

According to parliamentary democracy, with the taking of the oath, the newly elected members are considered a formal part of the legislative body. After the oath, they will sign the prescribed forms of the Parliament Secretariat and receive their identity cards.

According to political analysts, the process of forming the new government will gain further momentum after today’s swearing-in ceremony. Extensive security measures have been put in place in the Parliament House area, and a festive atmosphere prevails with the arrival of the new members of parliament.
